Cantrex Nationwide Stays Ahead of the Curve at its Canadian PrimeTime Event

High value, quality business solutions, impactful seminars and impressive buying show are the highlights for Independent Retailers and Vendors.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, October 24, 2017 – Cantrex Nationwide hosted its Canadian PrimeTime national convention and buying show from September 24 – 26th in Montreal, Quebec. Over 700 member retailers, vendors and industry experts from across North America gathered at the Westin Hotel and Palais des congrès for three days of learning, sharing and savings, generating over $15 million in purchases.

This year’s convention focus was on “Forging our Path to R-E-tail success” with the introduction and reinforcement of an extensive array of strategies and initiatives available to independent retailers to keep their business top-of-mind in the new digital reality and to continue to grow in the 21st century.

“We are living in the most disruptive years with the accelerating changes in technology and customer expectations guiding the retail evolution! New online competitors are thinking differently and disrupting the status quo. Fortunately, independent retailers already have their central block in place: their physical store – they just need to build on it…” said Jeannine Ghaleb, President and Chief Operating Officer of Cantrex Nationwide.

Cantrex Nationwide unveiled its new vertically integrated web initiative for its independent retailer members – an online marketplace known as SHOPcantrex. Retailers connecting to this new platform will benefit from a new sales channel that will direct consumers to the retailers’ websites and products significantly increasing their digital footprint to better compete with the online power retailers. This announcement generated a very high level of interest as was witnessed by the large number of visitors at the SHOPcantrex booth during the two-day buying show.

Several new business growth opportunities were introduced for those retailers looking to expand their product offerings, notably new programs in Connected Home and Outdoor Cooking & Power categories.

The day ended with a high-energy and compelling keynote address from world-renowned, leading Millennials and Gen Z researcher and speaker, Jason Dorsey. Jason shared many of his nationwide research findings, insights and tips on some of the toughest generational challenges facing business owners today.

The evening was reserved for enjoying, socializing and networking at Cantrex PrimeTime’s kickoff reception at the Westin - an ideal setting for members, vendors and colleagues to connect with individuals in similar areas of business from across the country.

Early Monday and Tuesday morning, the Westin was bustling with members taking advantage of the line-up of Cantrex Learning Academy business training sessions focusing on management, human resources, sales and marketing, merchandising and finance solutions that could easily be applied to their own business.

As anticipated, the main attraction of PrimeTime was the impressive vendor exhibition. Over 80 vendors enthusiastically presented their product lines and offered show-exclusive Cash Back rebates and special offers - much appreciated by attending members who collectively placed over 15 million dollars in purchases in appliance, bedding, furniture, home decor, outdoor cooking and power, consumer electronics and connected home, photography and retail service categories.

Hosting exclusive industry events like PrimeTime is just one example of Cantrex Nationwide’s unwavering commitment to assist independent retailers succeed in their marketplace. As the retail landscape shifts and undergoes rapid change, Cantrex stays ahead of the curve in continuing to provide its members with even more powerful, state-of-the art digital solutions, remaining more focused than ever in growing the independent retail channel.
